Blood Cloud (Danger and secret) Part 8

A Dark Vampire Story Full of Danger and Secret

Mary realized then that Kayo and Sui were vampires. Yet their actions and behavior kept her heart from hating them. From that moment, she kept the secret to herself and found her eyes constantly following both Kayo and Sui at school—still unable to believe that these two were killers of humans.

Days passed, and the number of the dead and those suffering from severe anemia kept rising. Blood donations dropped sharply. Fear and panic swept the population, and everyone felt death drawing close. The police failed to catch the vampires; it was difficult and dangerous. Because of this, residents began to flee the city, the number of students dwindled, and eventually all schools were shut down. Eyes drowned in tears each morning, and screams echoed at dawn as vampires roamed the night seeking their food, leaving human blood splashed across the streets—while others desperately needed that blood to live. People around the world began donating blood, and a night curfew was imposed so the police could catch and kill the vampires. The city’s police became the remaining citizens’ only hope.

On the evening of September 25th

The phone rang in Mary’s house.

Mother: “Mary, answer the phone.”

Mary: “Okay, Mom.”

Mary (on the phone): “Hello… who is this?”

A young man answered in a broken, eerie voice:
“Listen, girl… your friend Yuni is in danger. If you don’t come within five minutes to the railroad tracks, your friend’s end will be sealed.”

The line suddenly went dead. Mary stood frozen for a moment, shocked by what she’d heard.

Mother: “Who was on the phone, Mary?”

Mary rushed to the front door and bolted outside.

The mother screamed in panic:
“Mary! Mary! Where are you going?”

She quickly tried to call Mary’s father, who was still at work until morning due to the dangers of going out at night.

Mysterious man ( Danger and secret )

Mary rushed to the place the mysterious man had told her about, despite the curfew after sunset.

When she arrived, her eyes darted anxiously from side to side. Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm. She turned her face—and froze in shock.

It was the same man she had seen on the night of the blood incident near her home.

With a wicked smile, he said:
“I think you remember who I am, don’t you?”

Mary stared silently, her face turning pale.

The man sneered:
“You’re such a fool… believing everything so easily. I didn’t expect you’d come so fast.”

He laughed mockingly.
“Poor thing… you rushed right into your fate at my hands.”

Mary took two steps back, trying to escape, but the man grabbed her tightly and pulled her close.

“Don’t run, fool,” he hissed near her ear.

Then added, softly:
“Oh, I forgot to introduce myself first. I am… Hijika… a vampire… my dear.”

Mary tried to scream, but Hijika covered her mouth.
“Don’t make a scene, or you’ll die with me,” he taunted.
“The police don’t know who the vampires are, do they? Going out at this hour is dangerous.”

Mary was speechless and motionless, tears streaming down her cheeks like raindrops. (Danger and secret)

Hijika dragged her into a narrow alley, mocking her:
“Your stupidity brought you here. And it’s perfect when the prey comes to you on her own feet. So don’t blame me for not wasting this opportunity.”

Mary felt helpless, sensing death closing in.

Hijika stepped closer, inching toward her neck, ready to drink her blood… Mary stopped moving, her heart nearly stopping—when suddenly—

BAM!

A fierce blow struck Hijika’s face, sending him sprawling. Someone grabbed Mary’s hand and pulled her away.

Hijika couldn’t see who had saved her—the stranger’s face was hidden by a scarf.

The stranger took Mary to a safe place.

Mary was still shocked, exhausted, barely able to stand. She felt death was inevitable.

Minutes later, she looked up and asked in a weak voice,
“Who… are you?”

The young man removed his scarf, placing his hand on his face and said:
“I’m… Kayo.”

Mary’s eyes widened.
“Kayo?”

He nodded.
“Good thing I arrived in time.”

Tears in her eyes, Mary asked,
“What are you doing out here so late?”

Kayo answered,
“Maybe I should ask you the same. You know the curfew is strict.”

With pain and sadness, she said,
“Because… I was easily deceived.”

“How?”

“That man called me, said my friend Yuni was in danger. I panicked and rushed out to save her.”

Kayo growled,
“That bastard.”

After that Mary wiped her tears.
“But why are you here?”

He stepped closer, placing his hand gently on her head.
“Because I felt you were in danger.”

“But Kayo… you know the curfew, and if the police see you, they will kill you.”

“Don’t worry about that. Let me get you home.”

Mary placed her hand on her chest.
“Kayo, before we go, I want to ask you something.”

“Ask.”

“Kayo… are you… a vampire?”

Kayo froze, surprised. He smiled and said,
“What do you expect?”

“Please, Kayo… tell me. Don’t make me wait.”

The reality will appears (Danger and secret)

He lowered his head and confessed,
“You’re right. There’s no point hiding it anymore. Everything is out in the open. Yes, Mary, I am a vampire.”

Mary was silent for a moment, then burst into wild laughter, tears streaming.
“I knew it… I expected it. Isn’t it strange?” She laughed on.

Kayo lost his patience and shouted,
“Enough, you fool! There’s nothing funny about this. Better go home.”

Mary snapped,
“I won’t go.”

So Kayo was shocked.
“Mary! Stop being stubborn!” Then warned,
“Don’t forget… you’re standing in front of a vampire… a killer of humans. Go home before I eat you.”

Mary replied,
“I don’t care anymore. Kill me if you want.”

Angry, Kayo asked,
“Mary, what’s wrong with you? Are you crazy?”

In a low sad voice, she said,
“Kayo… you saved me so many times, even though I’m human, and you’re a vampire. You never tried to hurt me. So… I can’t feel hate or fear for you. Not even for your friend Sui.”

Kayo sighed.
“It’s true, Mary. Sui and I… we have killed many humans. We’re vampires. We caused the city’s destruction.”

Mary smiled softly.
“I know. But don’t forget, Kayo, there are humans who do worse crimes… for pleasure, for power, violating rights. You do it to survive. And if there are kind hearts among humans, there are kind hearts among you too—like you and Sui.”

Kayo beamed.
“Mary, you always amaze me. I can’t argue with you. You’re a strange girl.”

Suddenly, police sirens wailed nearby.

Kayo put his scarf back on.
“Let’s go, Mary. Things are bad. I’ll take you home before the police find us. I’ll use shortcuts to avoid them.”

Mary looked at him with admiration.
“Kayo, thank you again for saving me. Take care of yourself.”

He smiled and took her hand.
“Mary, I’ll do my best… to protect you.”
