Blood Cloud (Vampire in high school) Part 7
The first sign

A Vampire Story Drenched in Fear, Secrets, and Shadows (Vampire in high school)
Everyone returned to their classrooms. A heavy silence filled the room as the teacher walked into Mary’s class and spoke solemnly:
“Listen, students. I have something important to tell you… I can no longer teach here.”
Gasps erupted.
“What?! Why, sir?”
“The situation in the city has become too dangerous,” he explained. “Leaving is the only choice I have.”
No one said a word. Their eyes were filled with sorrow and dread. Deep down, everyone knew he was right. The city had become a nightmare, the kind told in old vampire stories whispered in fear.
After school, Mary walked home with slow, heavy steps. Her heart was weighed down by sadness and confusion.
Suddenly, a voice called out, “Mary! Wait!”
She turned around in surprise. “Kayo?! What are you doing here?”
Kayo shrugged. “Nothing. Just came to warn you… Don’t get involved in fights that have nothing to do with you.”
After that Mary smiled faintly. “Were you… worried about me?”
Kayo answered smugly, “Of course not. I just didn’t want to waste my punch.”
“But you hit the guy who knocked me down,” she said playfully. “Not me.”
“If you’d like, I can hit you now,” he teased.
Mary giggled. “You’re such a villain.”
“I know,” he replied confidently.

Blood on the mouth
Mary paused, staring at his face. “Kayo… your mouth. You’re bleeding. Did you get hurt in that fight?”
He casually wiped the blood with his thumb. “It’s nothing. Normal.”
“Normal?” she said in disbelief. “It doesn’t look normal to me.”
And kayo gave her that same mischievous smile. “Maybe it is… for someone like me.”
Something about him shifted. Mary felt a strange chill crawl up her spine.
“I should go now,” she murmured.
“Wait,” Kayo said softly. “I want to ask you something.”
Her heart skipped a beat. “W-what is it?”
He looked her in the eye. “Mary… what do you feel about vampires?”
She hesitated, her hand pressing gently to her chest. “You’ve never asked me that before…”
“Just answer,” he said, his voice steady.
She looked down. “Even though vampires have killed so many innocent people… I don’t feel hatred. I don’t know why.”
Kayo was stunned by her answer. After a pause, he whispered, “Sorry if that upset you.” Then walked away with a faint smile.
What a girl, he thought. A heart without hatred… only kindness.

Vampire in high school

Later, Sui confronted Kayo outside the school.
“What were you doing with Mary?”
“Nothing.”
Sui frowned. “You need to be careful. Don’t get too close to humans.”
“I know,” Kayo replied.
“And her especially,” Sui added with warning in his tone.
“What do you mean?”
Sui narrowed his eyes. “Kayo, if she learns what you are, everything could fall apart. You know what Hijika said. Our laws don’t allow this kind of connection.”
So Kayo looked away. “I understand… But I can’t promise anything.”
Sui sighed. “I’m telling you this because it’s for your own good.”
“I know,” Kayo said. “Let’s go.”
Back at home, Mary entered the lab where her father waited.
“Mary, you’ve heard about the vampires, haven’t you?”
“Yes.”
“I want you to be careful, daughter. Don’t fully trust anyone at school—not even your closest friends.”
“Why?”
“Because vampires live among us. They blend in. But remember—humans are their food. I fear someone you trust may be one of them.”
Mary nodded. “I understand. I’ll be careful.”
But as she sat in her room that night, Kayo’s words haunted her. The blood. His question. His gaze. And Sui’s warning.
Her breath caught in her throat.
Could Kayo… and Sui… be vampires?
But… their kindness. Their actions.
She whispered with trembling lips, “No… they can’t be.”
Still, from that night on, Mary couldn’t stop watching them. In class, in the halls. Her heart refused to believe it—but her mind couldn’t ignore it.
As days passed, the city plunged deeper into a nightmare. More bodies. And blood loss. With fear. This was no longer just a rumor. It was a vampire story brought to life.
And it was only just beginning… vampire in high school
